Adult Swim's Top Fresh Series of 2025 Gets a Significant Extension for Seasons 2 and 3.
In October of last year, Adult Swim saw the return of its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. However, not long after, the network launched a fresh animated series with a markedly softer feel. Haha, You Clowns proved to be gentle and comforting, reminiscent of a animated take of a contemplative talk show. During a period often characterized by bleakness, this show's sincerity struck a chord and propelled it a breakout hit.
A Significant Investment
In mid-December, the network made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two more seasons. This offers showrunner Joe Cappa a massive runway to develop the story of the Campbell family. The show focuses on three well-mannered teenage brothers whose primary trait is their strong bond for their single father, with Cappa portraying for all four main characters.
"I am incredibly thankful to the fans of the show who took a chance on the show and spread the word," said Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for seasons to come."
A President's Endorsement
The official statement also included laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "profoundly sincere and oddly captivating." He shouted out the fans who found the show and championed its peculiarly charming appeal.
"All of you supported this new show, championed for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a wholesome alternative" to more cynical adult animated fare. There’s something deeply soothing about observing this endearing family navigate their everyday routines.
In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa stated his goal to evolve comedy past its current cynical streak. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape.
“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” noted Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we just have to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

Now, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa may well help usher in that very evolution. If nothing else, the renewal guarantees audiences additional episodes to enjoy the heartfelt moments of the beloved Campbell clan.
