Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in power within the city.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of heroes who will split off from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
This warrior group features Teor (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might look unsuited, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his debts and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants revenge.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as important members in the powerful family could help the group enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character swore a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
