Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities have announced that a ex- doctor stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.

The Grave Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.

One deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Investigation

The charges follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Breakdown of Charges

The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
