Iran Claims Assault on American Facility in Bahrain, During Widespread Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is unclear and the United States has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported missile fragments landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
